This scheme provides cash rewards to Indian sportspersons and their coaches for winning medals in recognized international events. The scheme is implemented by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Department of Sports, Government of India. 

Overview of the Scheme 

• Cash rewards are provided to Indian sportspersons who win medals in approved international competitions. 

• A separate incentive structure is followed for all international events other than the Olympics, Paralympics, Asian Games, ParaAsian Games, and Commonwealth Games. 

• Coaches of medalwinning athletes receive 50% of the incentive awarded to the sportsperson, recognizing their contribution to the athlete’s success. 

Incentive Structure 

• The scheme covers 51 recognized sports disciplines. 

• Cash incentives range from ₹1.25 lakh to ₹75 lakh, depending on the level of competition, medal type, and sport category.
