Maharashtra is building a comprehensive, science‑driven, talent‑to‑elite sports ecosystem — from school‑level incentives to high‑performance centres and a dedicated sports university — to produce future national and international champions. 

Mission Lakshyavedh, a flagship initiative to help Maharashtra athletes excel at the Olympics, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games, Govt of Maharashtra has established high performance centers for 12 sports - athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Weightlifting, Hockey, Wrestling, Archery, Shooting, Rowing, Sailing, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis. 

Under Krida Prabodhini initiative, Govt has set up training centers in 8 cities: Pune, Kolhapur, Nashik, Thane, Amravati, Nagpur, Akola, Ch. Sambhajinagar offering training in 16 sports including Judo, Gymnastics, Hockey, Shooting, Football, Swimming, Athletics, Wrestling, Badminton, Archery, Handball, Table Tennis, Weightlifting, Triathlon, Cycling, Boxing. 

Established international sports university at Pune offering UG and PG programs focusing on sports science, medicine, technology, management, journalism and coaching. 

District‑level Proficiency Centres under Sports Talent Development Centres. 

New sports medicine labs in Nagpur, Kolhapur, Nashik, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
